OUR PASTORS
Pastor Kent first heard the call of God at 15 years of age while attending a youth conference in St. Louis MO. With little understanding of the exactness of the call, the Lord sent him to Bible school at Charis Bible College in Colorado.
During his years at CBC, the Lord confirmed over and over one word primarily to him: “pastor”. After graduating school in 2007, Kent moved back to his hometown of Troy, MO and started a church with his parents. From there, he moved to Park Hills, MO to assume the role as associate pastor in a local church. It was during his time as an associate pastor that the Lord spoke to him about planting a church in Perryville, MO.
Kent, along with his wife Liz, planted and pioneered Overcomers Church International in September of 2011. They have been faithful to the call of God in Perryville to continue the work there to this day. In the summer of 2021 the Lord positioned Kent and Liz as pastors over a church previously known as Victory Worship Center in Bonne Terre, MO; it is now too a campus of Overcomers Church International.
Although some methods of how to reach people have changed over the years, Pastor Kent’s heart for the message he preaches has not. One thing drives him in everything he does as a pastor. One message is intertwined into the fabric of every facet of his ministry. It is the reality of God’s unconditional love, not only for the church but for all humanity.
Pastor Kent has a desire to see hearts illuminated with the revelation of God’s unconditional love; likewise, he also wants to see entire regions shaken with the power of God’s love flowing through the preaching of the gospel. And not just preaching alone, but also with accompanying signs and wonders, as it was in the early church.
Pastor Kent has a passion to bring Kingdom culture to every area of society. His life mission is to go into all the world and have God’s kingdom become the dominating force. Although this is the heart the Father has placed in him, he knows that it requires the whole church doing what it is called to do to bring about the Father’s kingdom on the earth. Because of this, his heart is to build strong people who will, in turn, build strong churches that the gates of hell will not prevail against.
Their Ministry
Kent and Liz Ward are passionate about preaching the gospel of Jesus. They were radically transformed when the love of God captivated their lives. Their ministry is geared to bring practical, yet revelatory, teaching & impartation that will awaken hearts to the reality of God’s loving nature.
